Approximately 25% of this flanker sash was deteriorated and decayed. The stained-glass
was carefully removed and northern white pine was used in a ‘dutchman’ style repair.

The half lap joint provides sufficient strength and a larger gluing surface at the joint.
In addition, the shoulder provides lateral racking resistance in the sash.

A Williams & Hussey molder was used to mill the sticking detail and glazing rabbit
matching the existing profiles.

Once primed and painted the repair should blend seamlessly with the original sash.

Faintly visible is the through-mortise from the bottom rail, replicating the original window
construction.

Typical minor repairs at the rail and stile miter were required at larger center stained-glass
window.

Completed sash repair primed and ready for finish coats. Minor solder repairs were
made to the lead came as a result of the sash deterioration and window sag.

The right side of the flanker jamb was replaced with northern white pine. The balance
of the jamb was filled and stabilized with wood-hardener and epoxy as needed.

Finished window with new Lexan storm panels installed over all stained-glass.
